Earlier this month, the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology (JDD) published a study called A Six-Month, Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Study Evaluating the Safety and Efficacy of a Nutraceutical Supplement for Promoting Hair Growth in Women with Self-Perceived Thinning Hair that looked at the effect of Nutrafol® on women between the ages of 21 to 65. Overall the study had 40 participants, 26 that received Nutrafol® and 14 that received a placebo, that were tracked for 180 days and the results were very good. The users of Nutrafol® saw an increase in hair thickness and hair counts.
Nutrafol® is a great option for those patients looking for a hair supplement. It takes at least three to six months before you will start to see the benefit of Nutrafol®, but for many patients it can take up to year. While some patients experiencing short term hair loss like telogen effluvium, may only take Nutrafol® for a year, we would recommend taking it as long as you want to help maintain healthy hair.
