Jane has been a patient at Medi Tresse for a number of years and has tried Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy, Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), and minoxidil; she has seen hair regrowth from these treatments in the past.
Jane was previously diagnosed by our team for androgenic alopecia, or Female Pattern Hair Loss (FPHL). FPHL is the most common cause of hair thinning and hair miniaturization.
Ultimately, Jane felt like she had plateaued when it came to seeing results. While she was happy with her current hair growth, she wondered if there was more she could do and came back to Medi Tresse for advice.
With all of our treatments, we have three main goals: stop further loss, make the hair you have thicker, healthier, and if possible regrow hair. We like to remind all of our patients that attaining any of these goals is a success.
Jane tried a new Medi Tresse treatment called Polydioxanone Threads, or PDO threads, for hair regrowth to optimize results. PDO threads are an absorbable FDA-approved synthetic suture and surgical scaffold material that stimulate collagen production, and activate a healing cascade in the scalp area.
Polydioxanone threads have been effectively used in aesthetic medicine for years, for skin rejuvenation, lifting and tightening, as well as wrinkle reduction. These PDO threads have been used for the treatment of hair loss for about 4 years. Studies have shown that these absorbable sutures have been effective for hair regrowth.
Our research has shown that PDO Threads work best when used in combination with PRP Therapy. To give Jane the best chance for results, she received her PDO Thread treatment in conjunction with Optimal Platelet Concentrationâ„¢ (OPC) Therapy. The PDO Threads were completed immediately after the OPC treatment.
What makes OPC different from PRP Therapy is the use of advanced technology to utilize platelet counts to optimize the platelet concentration on the day of your treatment. Using this customized ideal platelet count, Medi Tresse can modify the platelet solution for your hair restoration treatments.
Medi Tresse is one of the first female hair loss clinics to provide customized platelet concentrations. Successful treatment puts a stop to hair loss, reactivates dormant follicles, and thickens existing hairs.
Within three months since starting her new treatment, Jane has seen significant hair regrowth withPDO threads and OPC therapy.
The trichoscopy image below shows a 14% increase of hair regrowth since starting treatment.
Our team expects to see additional improvement for 6 to 12 months after her treatment, at which point Jane will need a booster treatment.
