Susan was a new patient to our Medi Tresse office. She was concerned about her gradual hair loss, and came to us about the front hairline, as well as the hair on the crown.
Previously, Susan tried Minoxidil inconsistently, which is a topical formula to help promote hair growth, and most commonly known for assisting with the effects of androgenetic alopecia, or Female Pattern Hair Loss (FPHL). FPHL is the most common cause of hair thinning and hair miniaturization. Hair follicle miniaturization is when the follicle is constricted and therefore produces thinner hair shafts that easily fall out. If not treated, the affected hair will continue to get smaller and disappear completely.
Susan came to Medi Tresse to find a treatment for her androgenetic alopecia. She wanted and hoped to have people not notice her scalp, get a fuller hairline, and along her part line.
With all of our treatments, we have three main goals: stop further loss, make the hair you have thicker, healthier, and if possible regrow hair. We like to remind all of our patients that attaining any of these goals is a success.
As Susan had mildly advanced FPHL, dual treatment for androgenic alopecia, also known as combination therapy, was exactly what Susan needed to help prevent further hair miniaturization. In addition, she wanted to regrow hair, which was one of her main pain points during her initial consultation. For Susan, Painless PRP and a Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) LaserCap® treatment combinations were best for her individual goals for her diagnosis.Â
Applied to the scalp, Painless PRP therapy utilizes a medical device that delivers powerful mist jet streams that infuse into the scalp through hydroporation, turning the PRP into droplets and entering the scalp subdermally. Painless PRP treatments are 100% non-invasive and comfortable. Currently, Painless PRP Therapy is available at all of our locations.
The LaserCap® is a device that utilizes Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) to stimulate the hair follicle cells to grow. The LaserCap® utilizes a cool beam laser that encourages tissue repair and recovery on the scalp. These forms of light are not capable of burning skin, which makes prolonged use safe for patients.
The LaserCap® is available for purchase at our locations; you can receive your treatment in the comfort of your own home.
Studies have shown that utilizing two or more treatments provides a better result than the result from just one of the treatments on its own, as they target different aspects of the scalp and hair follicle, resulting in an effective, safe, and promising option for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia. Most treatments take approximately 6 to 12 months to see significant results.
This dual therapy treatment proved to be the right course of action as she has seen significant results within the first few months of treatment.
Susan is currently continuing her dual treatment for androgenic alopecia with Painless PRP and LLLT. She is on her way to achieving her initial consultation goals. This is an unexpected result so soon. However, our team expects to continue to see more positive results throughout her treatment.
