Dr. Mary Wendel opened her first practice dedicated to treating women experiencing hair loss in 2002, when she opened the Women’s Hair Loss Center in Worcester, MA. Meeting with and treating hundreds of women over the years, she has witnessed first-hand not only the physical, but emotional toll of hair loss, and the impact on her patients’ confidence and self-esteem. She became intensely interested and passionate about discovering and offering effective treatments to slow or stop hair loss and even regrow hair. Eventually, her own thinning hair created an even deeper understanding and empathy of the hair loss and restoration issues unique to women. In June 2015, Dr. Wendel opened the first Medi Tresse medical clinic in Wellesley, MA, offering non-surgical hair loss solutions exclusively for women. Since 2015, Medi Tresse has grown to 4 locations and has seen over 3000 patients in their offices.

Dr. Wendel, whom is board certified in internal medicine, received her MD from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 1980 and completed her internship and residency at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester studying internal medicine. Dr. Wendel worked as an emergency room staff physician, urgent care physician and primary care physician at Fallon Clinic in Worcester and as an internist and primary care physician at UMass Memorial Healthcare. Dr. Wendel’s additional clinical interest areas are in preventative health, including diet, exercise and spiritual well-being. Dr. Wendel was raised in Lynnfield, Massachusetts, and resides in Sudbury, MA, with her husband, Dr. Mark DiStefano.

Dr. DiStefano is an accomplished and highly experienced physician with a career spanning nearly four decades. He graduated from the esteemed Georgetown University School of Medicine, where he went on to complete residencies in General Surgery and Emergency Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. Later, in 1994, he founded DiStefano Hair Restoration Center, which grew into one of New England’s largest hair restoration practices. Dr. DiStefano sold his private practice in 2018 and is no longer affiliated with it.

Dr. DiStefano is a recognized leader in hair restoration surgery, as a member of both the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery and International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery as well as the European Society of Hair Restoration. Dr. DiStefano has completed over 10,000 hair restoration treatments in his career.

Furthermore, Dr. DiStefano continues to share his knowledge globally, serving as a Clinical Instructor for Plastic Surgery at the University of Massachusetts Medical School; leading training programs for hair restoration surgeons; consulting on Harvard Medical International's hair loss restoration program; speaking and lecturing internationally for important societies such as the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery; and volunteering through Operation Restore -- a Pro Bono Foundation-sponsored program that provides complex surgical treatment to those who are unable to cover costs themselves.

Deborah DiStefano, MD is an exceptional board-certified physician who has dedicated over 30 years to improving the lives of her patients. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed internships and residencies before attending Harvard University for a two-year fellowship. Currently, she serves as Medical Director at Medi Tresse Chattanooga where she is well known and respectfully trusted by patients. Over the years, Dr. DiStefano has developed a passion for helping clients enhance their natural features and improve the confidence they have in themselves. Her caring, kind, and nurturing personality is appreciated by all who come into contact with her; they often comment on how much she puts into understanding their individual needs and helping them feel more confident about themselves.

Dr. DiStefano was awarded “Who’s Who In The South and Southeast 1983-1984 and in 1996-2008, 2011-2012, and again in 2013, “Best Doctors in America” as seen on “60 Minutes.”

Jessica Witherspoon, RN is a highly experienced registered nurse who has spent the past 13 years dedicated to providing exemplary care in women’s services. Before becoming an RN, she worked as a medical assistant at an OB/GYN office. In her years of experience, Jessica has served in roles such as trauma and mother/baby – proving her breadth of knowledge and expertise. Above all, she is passionate about helping women reach greater confidence in their own body. Specializing in hair restoration for female hair loss, Jessica provides a gentle yet confident approach that helps bring out the best in each individual patient. With her knowledge and dedication to her craft, Jessica is ready to help you embrace your inner strength and become a more confident version of yourself!

Mary Beth Brand has been a Registered Nurse for over 25 years. Her expertise lies in emergency care and aesthetics, but it was her passion for hair that truly sparked her interest. From her early days as a laser hair removal practitioner, Mary Beth knew that hair was more than just a cosmetic concern - it held a deeper significance for many individuals. As she witnessed the emotional toll that hair loss took on her loved ones, Mary Beth's focus shifted from removal to regrowth. It wasn't until she saw the incredible impact that hair loss treatment had on her husband's life that she realized her calling to help others in this area. With every patient she treats, Mary Beth takes great pride in witnessing their transformation and improving their quality of life. Her empathetic care and unwavering dedication make her patients feel at ease during a difficult process. With Mary Beth by their side, patients can trust they are receiving top-notch medical attention from a caring professional who truly understands their struggles.

Marilyn Gamber is a passionate, experienced medical professional with over 12 years of experience as a registered nurse and 5 years as an aesthetic nurse practitioner. In 2022, Marilyn joined Medi Tresse and began extensive training under Dr. Mary Wendel in the treatment of all types of female hair loss. Eager to continue learning and expanding her practice, Marilyn embraces a patient-focused, evidence-based approach in order to meet each client’s individual needs. Driven by her sincere desire to empower women so they can feel beautiful and confident, she works collaboratively with patients to create personalized treatment plans that can be seamlessly integrated into their lifestyles.

Kimberly is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner with over 25 years of experience and has been with Medi Tresse since 2018, where she has trained extensively alongside Dr. DiStefano and Dr. Wendel. Kimberly has a vast knowledge of the causes and treatments for female hair loss, but what patients notice most is her empathetic approach to treatment.

Kimberly has a real passion for hair loss, and has received certifications from the US Trichology Institute “USTI Hair Loss Practitioner” and the World Trichology Society for “Reading Blood Tests Trichologically”. Additionally, Kimberly obtained her Certificate of Associate Trichology Diploma from the World Trichology Society.

Kimberly’s dedication to women’s health also led her to become certified as an Expert in Hormone Replacement Therapy and has trained directly under the founder & Medical Director of Menopause Method Daved Rosensweet, M.D, who is one of the leading experts on hormones and treating menopause. Kimberly is also on the Medical Board for the Institute of Bioidentical Medicine.

Kimberly takes pride in taking an expansive approach when treating her patients, to provide them with the best possible care and results. Says Kimberly, “What I have learned over the years, female hair loss is not life-threatening…It’s life-altering.”

Kimberly received her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Catholic University and her master’s in nursing from Columbia University

Rosie Scano is an extraordinary registered nurse and brings a wealth of hair loss knowledge to Medi Tresse. Prior to joining Medi Tresse, Rosie received intensive training from renowned hair restoration specialist Dr. Mark DiStefano during her six-year tenure at his prior hair restoration practice. In 2015, she joined Medi Tresse and has since become an expert in non-surgical hair loss treatments through her mastery of PRP injection techniques, low-level laser therapy, topical treatments and over-the-counter products. Rosie is deeply committed to providing quality care and therapeutic support to women suffering from the effects of hair loss. Her passion for helping people shines through with every patient she treats, making them feel comfortable and at ease while on their journey to restoring healthier hair. Rosie received her Associate Degree in Nursing from Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester, MA.

Sarah Maresco, NP is a compassionate and knowledgeable nurse practitioner with over 12 years of experience in medical care. She achieved her Bachelor's degree in Nursing from Simmons College, before continuing her education and graduating from the Adult Gerontologic Nurse Practitioner Program at the University of Massachusetts. Sarah is an expert when it comes to diagnosing and treating hair loss, using cutting-edge therapies such as Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP), low-level laser therapy (LLLT), supplementation, prescriptions, and over the counter medications. Her enthusiasm for client care and aesthetic industry knowledge also drives her passion for cosmetic injectables, which she has been using to help people look their best for over 5 years now.

Cleo is a registered nurse practitioner with an extensive medical background as both a registered nurse and nurse practitioner for nine years.

After years of working in both medical aesthetics and dermatology, Cleo brings a wealth of knowledge and love of helping patients to regain their confidence and helping them to feel their best.

Cleo’s empathy for her patients comes from the emotional toll her mother experienced after suffering a devastating car accident that required multiple reconstructive surgeries to her face, a lifelong struggle that Cleo witnessed first-hand. This experience led Cleo to a career in medicine and as she states, “It brings me so much joy to see people transform, be happy, and regain their confidence!”

Deb Gray has been in healthcare for over 35 years. After starting her career as a nurse, she became a Nurse Practitioner in 2008. Deb specializes in all aspects of non-surgical hair loss treatments, including PRP, low-level laser therapy and topical treatments. Deb feels that compassion and clear communication is the key to fostering a positive patient experience, especially when it comes to female hair loss. Deb’s goal is to provide patients with safe and compassionate treatments that will help them regain their confidence and feel good about their hair again.
