Diagnosing Your Causes and Developing Your Personal Hair Loss Treatment Plan

Your first hair loss consult at Medi Tresse is a medical consultation. You will meet with a medical professional who is completely knowledgeable about the causes of female hair loss and all the scientifically proven treatments available.

It is important to bring any other medical information to your hair loss consultation that would be helpful to us.

  • Copies of any blood work
  • Biopsies
  • Other evaluations you may have had.
  • A list of all of your medications, including supplements.

A thorough hair loss history will be taken, as well as a complete medical history. You will have a thorough evaluation of your scalp and hair, after which a unique treatment plan will be recommended for you. If you use any powder or creams to cover your scalp, please do not apply them on the day of your appointment, if possible.

In the event you decide you would like to proceed with treatment we will need to take a photograph of your scalp to monitor treatment results. (Your photo will never be shared with others without your written permission.)

No procedure will be done on the day of your consultation. Further appointments will be made as needed.

What happens at the hair loss consultation?

Will I be meeting with a dermatologist?

You will be meeting with a medical practitioner that is an expert in the treatment of hair loss, but we are not dermatologists. While dermatologists focus on the skin, hair, nails, and mucous membranes, the staff at Medi Tresse are solely focused on the hair. As the treatment of hair loss requires such specialized expertise, many dermatologists refer their hair loss patients to Medi Tresse.

Will I have a better understanding of what could be causing my hair loss?

After the consultation, we expect that you will know the cause of your hair loss and the available treatment options. In some cases, we may recommend additional blood work or, in rare instances, a scalp biopsy, to confirm the type of hair loss that we believe you have.

Can I start treatment without a consultation?

At Medi Tresse, all of our patients must start with a consultation from one of our medical practitioners. Female hair loss is complex with various causes, to ensure that you will receive the proper treatment, we must start with a proper diagnosis.
